Childcare & Early Education
Vision: Taylor is the model childcare community, with affordable, flexible, high-quality Early Care & Education accessible to all.
About
Food insecurity affects many in our community, forcing people to choose between meals and essentials like rent or medication. Our foundation believes everyone deserves access to nutritious, affordable food. Through partnerships with local food banks, community kitchens, and support programs, we provide immediate relief and sustainable solutions. With your help—whether through donations, volunteering, or advocacy—we can ensure no one has to worry about their next meal and build a stronger, healthier community.
2025 Goals
- Increase childcare providers on the Council
- Engage the business community to develop workplace benefits and resources for childcare
- Enhance awareness of the council in the community
- Develop partnerships to sustain quality early education
Community Connections & Collaboration

By working together, we create a united network that enhances resource-sharing and problem-solving, ensuring collective action to address the community’s most pressing challenges.
2025 Goals
- Designating February 11 as 211 Day throughout Taylor
- Develop Agency/Resource list; goal is to be able to refer people in need to appropriate services for assistance
- Procure Volunteer Management software to connect volunteers with opportunities in the community
- Continue community communication initiatives: website/social media/newsletter to get info out about events in our community
Economic Wellbeing

- Launch Taylor, an entrepreneur development program
- Expand free tax filing sites for 2026
- Go To Work/Grow At Work training to help thirty workers move into higher paying jobs
Food Insecurity
Vision: “Every individual has equitable access to nutritious food and the knowledge to make healthy eating choices.”

The Food Insecurity Council is committed to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. We partner with food banks, community kitchens, and support programs to provide nutritious food and long-term solutions to food insecurity, helping individuals and families meet their basic needs and thrive.
2025 Goals
- Expand council
- Host Taylor report meeting for the Central Texas Food Bank assessment
- Develop strategies to address the findings from Central Texas Food Bank food assessment
- Provide education and awareness of healthy eating
- Develop sustainable food options
- Consider various food distribution models
Housing
Vision:

About
The Housing Council focuses on increasing access to safe, affordable housing for all community members. By supporting initiatives that provide emergency shelter, rental assistance, and long-term housing solutions, we work to address housing insecurity and build pathways to stability for individuals and families.
2025 Goals
- Collaborate with City to develop a catalog of pre-approved building plans
- evelop a Community Land Trust with technical assistance from HousingWorks of Austin*
- Develop an Affordable Housing Hub for potential buyers
- Host a Housing Forum with the City to create awareness of all aspects surrounding housing; finance, land use, partnerships, coding and permitting
Mental Health
Vision: “We envision a future where mental health is accessible, supported, and prioritized for all in our community.”
About
Our Mental Health Council works to improve access to mental health services and support within the community. By partnering with local healthcare providers and organizations, we aim to reduce stigma, expand counseling and crisis intervention services, and promote overall well-being for all residents.
2025 Goals
- Planning Mental Health Month (May) throughout Taylor with mental health activities in community and the ISD
- Investigate feasibility of mobile unit to provide mental health and primary care services to rural and underserved areas of Taylor
- Collaborate with the Collaboration and Connections and Food Insecurity Councils and ISD on a community wide back to school event connecting families with a wide array of services: immunizations, health screenings, school supplies and backpacks, food demonstrations, and other community services.
