Community Needs Assessment
Between June and September 2023, Crescendo Consulting Group worked in collaboration with Greater Taylor Foundation leadership to implement quantitative and qualitative research methods designed to evaluate the perspectives and opinions of Taylor residents, especially those from vulnerable populations.
This Community Needs Assessment provides a critical process that examines community strengths and resources while identifying current service gaps or needs of the most vulnerable Taylor residents.
2023 Community Needs Assessment Report:
Top five most important findings
Mental health and substance abuse concerns are increasing
The community identified mental health services and substance abuse treatment as major unmet needs, with growing concern about youth mental health and access to affordable care.
Affordable housing remains a critical issue
There’s a persistent shortage of affordable housing, particularly for low-income families and seniors, leading to housing insecurity and homelessness risks.
Access to healthcare is uneven
Residents cited challenges with healthcare access due to cost, insurance gaps, and transportation barriers, disproportionately affecting rural and low-income populations.
Food insecurity persists despite existing resources
Many respondents reported difficulty accessing healthy, affordable food, especially in food deserts and areas lacking reliable transportation.
Employment and job readiness gaps
Workforce development was highlighted as a need, with community members pointing to a lack of job training programs, childcare for working parents, and opportunities for upward mobility.
